Do you take care of animals other than dogs and cats? YES! I take care all breeds of dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, hermit crabs, chickens and roosters, ducks and pigeons. I will also take care of reptiles and snakes as long as I don't have to feed anything live to them.
Why shouldn't I ask a friend, neighbor or hire someone from a site like Craigslist to care for my pets?
By hiring a professional pet sitter you are guaranteed that the details of your contract will be carried out like you want them to be. Even if you ask me to do something you might consider crazy or silly, (which I can assure you probably isn't as crazy as you think it sounds) I will do whatever you need me to do for the care of your pets.
I have an old dog that is hard of hearing and cannot see very well. Can you handle special needs pets?
YES! In fact, I have a special place in my heart for them. If you notice the Shitzu on my first page, that's my Heidi who is no longer with us. She was old, hard of hearing and couldn't see either so I know how to handle those kinds of situations. I also have several older pets in my care with various health issues.
What if I am uncomfortable having a stranger come into my home while I'm not here? To be honest, I feel the same way myself so I can understand how you feel. I am licensed, bonded and insured and I can assure you that I will treat your pets and home with the same care that I do my own. I have excellent references and I also care for the pets of a few of Charlotte-Mecklenburg's finest police officers, one a retired captain.
I have a security system. Can you still service my home? Yes! I deal with all types of security systems on a daily basis. I suggest that you put in a different code for me (which I can provide you with) so that you can turn it on or off if you like.
What if I don't want you to keep a copy of my key? Good question. We strongly encourage you to let us keep a copy of your key. This ensures you can be spontaneous or enable you to leave quickly if you have an emergency and need to leave town. If you don't let me keep a key copy, I will have to charge you a pickup fee of $10 since I have to take the time and use gas to get to and from your home. All keys are coded so that no one but me knows which key is yours and they are kept in a locked box separate from your contract. This ensures the key you leave with me cannot be used to break into your home.
I have a dog that is considered a dangerous dog by others (i.e. Pit Bull, Chow, Rottweiler). Is that a problem? Not at all. I have several of these breeds in my care and all of them are just pussycats. If you have an aggressive dog of ANY breed, we can discuss the best way to handle the situation. For instance, I once took care of a Pekingese who hated everyone and would come after anyone, including his owners, biting their legs and feet. Obviously putting a leash on him was going to be a problem for my fingers so I had the owner put his harness on him before they left so that I could just hook the leash on his back and we'd be on our way.
Why does it cost so much per visit to hire a professional pet sitter? When you hire a professional pet sitter, you know you are hiring someone who takes care of pets for a living and therefore it is very important to them and they take the job very seriously. They pay to be licensed, bonded and insured as well. Plus, do you really want to trust someone with your home, possessions and furbabies who you only pay $10 per visit and who may or may not show up?
